There are 2 ways YOU can be a part of the STEER initiative.
STEER is a public charity and is exempt from Federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions to STEER are deductible under section 170 of the Code, but those making donations are strongly encouraged to consult their own tax advisor for any tax advice related to donations.
Support our 150 by 2020 Campaign
STEER has launched a $2,200,000 capital campaign to support having 150 student athletes successfully participating or graduated from the program across multiple schools in some of the largest and most challenged public school districts in the country by 2020. STEER has successfully changed the lives and outcomes for many student athletes in the Port Chester, Yonkers and most recently in the New York City Public School system, by delivering tailored services to student athletes and their families through distinctly selected and trained STEER Advisors. If you choose, as an individual or family, you can sponsor specific student athletes through their STEER Advisors and make a direct impact in influencing their outcomes.
Offer Unique Assistance
Describe to us a way in which you believe you can contribute to STEER other than donating. We are flexible in coordinating further benefits that have not been specifically outlined in the STEER "Approach" tab. Understand, you may only be eligible to offer unique assistance if you reside in proximity of an identified STEER district or school. We will work with you diligently to coordinate a way in which you wish to contribute. Offering unique assistance could include, but is not limited to:
- Sponsoring a participant
- Equipment Supply
- Athletic Support
- Health Services
- Other Support, based on student athletes needs.
