Joseph Gilson
Joseph has been teaching Social Studies at Port Chester High School since 2014. He currently serves as the Department Chairperson for the Social Studies Department and as the IB Extended Essay Advisor. Joseph’s classroom focuses on developing students civic awareness, communication, critical thinking, and research skills, and inquiry-based learning.
Joseph has been involved in several Port Chester Public School initiatives including developing the Seal of Global Competency, working with STEER athletes on community projects, and developing courses that focus on Global Citizenship. Joe also has experience as a Track and Field Coach and serves as a Section I Baseball Umpire. Joseph graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas College with an undergraduate in Social Science with Adolescent Certification and then returned for his Masters Degree in Special Education 7-12. He currently serves on the STAC Advisory Board. Joseph recently completed an Educational Leadership Program at Manhattanville College. Joseph lives in Westchester with his wife KC. KC was a Division II collegiate basketball captain and is now a special education teacher with the Dobbs Ferry School District. |
