Montserrat Cardenas was one of the first student athletes to become part of the STEER organization. She grew up in Port Chester, New York and she graduated from Port Chester High School in 2016. During high school, she was involved in Track and Field and Swimming. Throughout her high school journey, STEER helped her become the student athlete and young adult she is today. She used STEER services such as SAT prep, an advisor and personal trainers to enhance her athletic and academic potential. She continued her education at Purchase College, which she graduated from in 2020 with a Bachelor's in Biochemistry. During her college years she continued to discover herself while facing life obstacles. She always kept STEER close to her heart which continued to guide her throughout her college years and to this day, something she always expresses her gratitude for. Currently, she is working at STEER as the Director of High School Programs & Development. As a former STEER student athlete herself, it was always a goal of hers to give back, change, and shape the lives of young adults like herself.
