Susana works for AFS-USA as a Participant Support Specialist for the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program; in her role, she supervises and supports 100+ exchange students hosted in the western United States. Susana holds an adjunct faculty position with Westchester Community College where she teaches a variety of adult English courses.
From 2018-2021, Susana was a member of STEER's Front Office team as a Student Support Administrator. Throughout her time with STEER she not only managed student support services but also helped the organization develop its college and career readiness curriculum and partnerships with community stakeholders. Prior to her time with STEER, Susana was one of 60 Americans awarded a 2017-2018 Fulbright English Language Teaching Assistantship to Mexico through the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs; she completed her placement at Universidad Tecnologica El Retono located in Aguascalientes, Mexico. She received her BA in English from Siena College and holds a certification in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from Westchester Community College.
Susana is currently completing a 500 hour Comprehensive Pilates Instructor certification; as one of four nationwide recipients of Club Pilates' 2021 Spring Teacher Training Diversity Scholarship, she is committed to making her own passion for Pilates accessible and achievable for all communities. Susana lives in New York City and enjoys exploring the local food, art, and entertainment scene. She is first generation Mexican American from Port Chester, NY - where her family still resides.
