Susana grew up in Port Chester, NY and graduated from Port Chester High School in 2013. As a first generation college student, she received her undergraduate degree from Siena College where she majored in English and double minored in Italian and Writing and Communications. At Siena, Susana gained experience providing students, specifically international ones, with academic support through her school’s writing center and student activities offices. These experiences led Susana to apply for a 2017-2018 Fulbright Garcia-Robles grant. As one of 60 nationwide recipients of the grant, Susana was placed as an English Language Teaching Assistant at La Universidad Tecnológica El Retoño in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
Susana has previously worked with youth organizations like the Don Bosco Community Center and as a Westchester Site Director for Let’s Get Ready. Susana joins the STEER team as a Student Support Administrator; she is a champion for educational social justice and believes her previous teaching and mentoring experiences, as well as her experiences growing up in Port Chester help her understand, serve, and motivate our student athletes in a unique way. Outside of STEER, Susana is a certified TESOL instructor and teaches classes for adult language learners. Susana lives in New York City and enjoys the city's arts and food scene.
