Port Chester, NY – STEER has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Thomas & Agnes Carvel Foundation for 2023. The grant process was highly competitive and only eligible to qualified community-based organizations that provide youth and social services, health care, and/or college access. This is the second consecutive year STEER has been awarded this grant from the Carvel Foundation.
The Carvel Foundation focuses on giving primarily for health care, including hospitals and children's hospitals, funding also for the arts, children, youth and social services, and for higher education. STEER will use this funding to provide various support services to 5 new students in our Westchester County partner schools. These services include social and emotional learning support, academic support, college readiness support, physical wellness support, and high-touch mentoring support our student-athletes regularly receive. It is only with a significant commitment to our youth that we are able to attain this type of funding ensuring the same impact and quality for new students onboarded to the organization. We wish to express a special thank you to the Thomas & Agnes Carvel Foundation for their continued support of our mission!
